Anupam Kher and Boman sat down with ETimes and were impressed by Sooraj Barjatya’s upcoming ‘Uunchai’.
Anupam also talks about his wife Kirron’s cancer recovery and Boman about losing loved ones to COVID-19. Uunchai also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sarika and Neena Gupta and yes, Parineeti Chopra. Watch the full interview in the video below.
First of all, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani say they had a very refreshing experience working with a completely different Sooraj Barjatya on ‘Uunchai’, which is due out on November 11th. Kher says Sooraj has become calmer. “It’s a blessing to work with him,” he said. Boman says he is the epitome of peace, humility and perseverance. “I could write a book about him. Who does it every time he comes into each actor’s van and goes back to the character from the beginning and explains the necessary scenes? That way of working gives you the power. Acting with the flow is Much better. Respect not only the seniors, but the actors and speak the same tone to everyone.” “Rajshri Productions is a treasure,” added Kher. “We’ve made 60 films in 75 years. Some cold people have decided to designate this film as Sanskari.” “People who put the slots couldn’t make good movies like Rajshri Production does,” Boman said.
When asked if Chiron’s overcoming cancer would be one of his greatest victories, Kerr immediately agreed, saying, “It’s a great relief. Touch the tree. Start working again. The human spirit is stronger than anything else. Giving up is not an option. Right now , someone texted me if my wife was ill and could send Chiron’s voicemail. These are helpful and besides, ‘unchai’ is healing.”
Did Anupam tell Kirron to go slow when he resumes work? “I was worried,” replied Kher. “Big C is a terrifying disease. But medicine today has made great strides. And thankfully she has a great team of doctors at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital,” replied Kher. Kher also spoke about how hard his mother had been through.
Boman Irani went through a personal crisis during COVID-19. After that, how did he make a physically demanding film like ‘Unchai’? “I don’t think ‘Unchai’ is a physically demanding movie. It wouldn’t be right to call it that. I realized. How long can I sit like that? Will anyone who has been there be happy? Will I see a day like this? “The difference helped me get started,” he said.
